As a joint initiative between Saltford Parish Council (SPC), Saltford Community Association (SCA) (SCA) and Curo, Saltford now has a publicly accessible Bleed Kit at Saltford Hall.
SPC thanks Curo for awarding funding to the Parish Council, and to SCA’s Saltford Hall for adopting and hosting the bleed kit next to its defibrillator.

Saltford’s new Bleed Kit has been placed at the front of SCA’s Saltford Hall so it is easily accessible to members of the public, including to the many people – including Curo residents – who live nearby, and users of Saltford Hall.

SPC thanks the Avon and Somerset Bleed Kit Partnership Team’s advice prior to SPC seeking Curo funding. The Avon and Somerset Bleed Kit Partnership have supported SPC and SCA during the purchase and installation process, and as a ‘legacy kit’ will check and replace items (if required) at no charge.
Bleed Kits are designed to be used by bystanders to save lives in instances of catastrophic blood loss. Though often associated as being positioned in areas at high risk of knife crime, Bleed Kits contain crucial equipment for incidents such as a road, household or sports accidents. As such Curo, SCA and SPC all recognised the value of a Bleed Kit being located at this key location in the village.
Due to the importance of this life saving equipment, Saltford Parish Council is looking to accommodate in its budget funds for one new publicly accessible Bleed Kit in Saltford every year from April 2025.
The Bleed Kit at Saltford Hall is located next to the defibrillator, on the external wall by the main entrance to Saltford Hall.
INFORMATION ABOUT BLEED KITS
Each Bleed Kit contains a range of equipment. Given that members of the public are unlikely to be familiar with the contents nor have had training, Bleed Kits come all prepared for use by anyone. Kits include colour coded steps to assist in clear instruction for use, so people can use them with confidence in critical situations.
By giving people the tools to stop the bleeding until paramedics arrive, the immediate availability of Bleed Kits in the public domain can help save lives. Bleed Kits contain equipment including trauma dressings and instructions on how to use them, so they can be used by members of the public without training.
