Saltford Parish Council has 11 Councillors. Elections last took place in May 2019, and three SPC Councillors have since been co-opted following vacancies arising on the Council. Public elections will next take place in May 2023. Parish Councillors do not receive any payment for being elected members and offer their time voluntarily for the benefit of the local community. The Chair receives a small honorarium in place of expenses (£300 p.a. in 2021/22). The Chair and Vice-Chair are elected by other Councillors at the Annual Parish Council meeting held in May.
Saltford Parish Council has one employee, the Parish Clerk, who administers council business and supports Parish Councillors to carry out their responsibilities. The Parish Clerk is also the council’s Responsible Financial Officer (RFO). The Parish Clerk holds the Certificate in Local Council Administration (CiLCA), the recognised qualification for clerks, which along with other criteria met by the Council entitles SPC to hold the General Power of Competence.
