Saltford Parish Council has 11 Councillors. Elections last took place in May 2019, and three SPC Councillors have since been co-opted following vacancies arising on the Council. Public elections will next take place in May 2023. To find out more about becoming or being a Councillor, see here for information on the Avon Local Council Association’s website.
Parish Councillors do not receive payment for being elected members and offer their time voluntarily for the benefit of the local community. The Chair receives a small honorarium in place of expenses (£300 p.a. in 2022/23). The Chair and Vice-Chair are elected at the Annual Parish Council meeting held annually in May.
The Parish Clerk is SPC’s ‘Proper Officer’ and only employee. The Parish Clerk supports Councillors to carry out their responsibilities and administers the council’s business. The Parish Clerk is Certificate in Local Council Administration (CiLCA) qualified, which along with other criteria entitles SPC to hold the General Power of Competence. The Parish Clerk is also SPC’s Responsible Financial Officer (RFO) and has completed the Financial Introduction to Local Council Administration (FILCA) course.
