Saltford Parish Council Planning Application Site Visits - Saltford Parish Council

Saltford Parish Council receives many planning consultations from the Planning Authority each year for resolution and response (as listed on SPC’s agendas and minutes).

Site visits are not a mandatory service offered by parish councils. B&NES Council is the Planning Authority, and case officers for planning applications may make site visits. Please contact B&NES Council for more information.

SPC Councillors do not generally make site visits on the request of applicants or neighbours with regards to planning consultations. However arranged site visits may take place should a Councillor, usually the Chair or Vice Chair of Planning Committee, deem it particularly helpful to SPC and also if they are willing and able to conduct a site visit (and if there are no likely declarable pecuniary conflicts of interests).

Should a site visit take place to a location where there is a planning consultation to be considered by SPC, a Councillor would not be able to express any opinion on the application or indicate the view of the Council during a site visit – a view on a planning application will only be resolved at an SPC meeting (or using the Scheme of Emergency Delegation should a time extension to respond be required but not able to be permitted by the Planning Authority).

More information on SPC’s role in the planning process can be found on its ‘How can members of the public make their views known? (Commenting on Planning Applications)‘ page.
