Saltford Parish Council is committed to making its website accessible in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
This website has been designed with the aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standard.
How accessible this website is

Accessibility status
An accessibility audit of the website was completed in August 2026 against WCAG 2.2 AA.
The audit included:
- • Manual keyboard accessibility testing.
- • Browser-based accessibility testing using recognised accessibility tools.
- • Automated scanning of all 44 pages of the website.
No known WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility failures were identified during this testing.
Third-party content
Some areas of the website contain content provided by third-party services. While we aim to ensure these services are as accessible as possible, we do not have direct control over their underlying code.
Examples include:
- • Embedded Google Maps.
- • Embedded Facebook content.
- • Third-party document management components.
Where possible, alternative methods of obtaining information are available on request.

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons:
Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations
Third party embedded content – Some third-party embedded content, including social media feeds, maps and externally provided services, may contain elements that are outside the direct control of Saltford Parish Council. There is a limit to how far you can magnify the map on our ‘contact us’ page. We continue to monitor these services and will review any accessibility concerns raised by users.
Text alternatives – Some images in content published before this website’s recent update do not have a text alternative, so people using a screen reader cannot access the information. This fails WCAG success criterion 1.1.1 (non-text content). Content published from this point forward is checked to include appropriate text alternatives.
Interactive tools and transactions – Our online document library uses expandable panels for document subsections. In some cases screen reader software may not correctly announce the label associated with a panel. We have reported this to the software’s developer and are monitoring for a fix.
If users raise accessibility concerns, Saltford Parish Council will investigate the issue and consider whether improvements can be made. Where fixes are practical and proportionate, we will aim to implement them.
Where a requested change would place a disproportionate burden on the Council under the accessibility regulations, the matter will be recorded and reviewed again when the website is next formally assessed.
The website was last reviewed in August 2026 and accessibility considerations will form part of future website reviews and updates.
Content that is not within the scope of the accessibility regulations
PDFs and other documents – Some of our PDF and Word documents may not be fully accessible to all users. These documents include information such as meeting papers, reports, policies, forms and historical records.
Where documents are essential for accessing a service or obtaining important information, we will aim to ensure they are accessible or provide the information in an alternative accessible format upon request. Where appropriate, we will also seek to replace documents with accessible web pages.
The accessibility regulations do not require us to make PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 accessible, provided they are not essential to the services we deliver. As a result, some older documents, including historic meeting agendas, minutes and reports published before this date, may not be fully accessible.
Any new PDFs, Word documents and other downloadable content published by the council will, wherever possible, be created to meet recognised accessibility standards.
Live video – We do not plan to add captions to live video streams because live video is exempt from meeting the accessibility regulations.
