Updated 14 June: It is looking hot and sunny so please bring water, hats, sunscreen etc for the weather conditions. A shorter walk to the Cheese Shop and back is an option. Please be aware The Shallows car park is likely to be busy so please consider walking to the meeting point. Please consider the weather conditions if bringing a dog, they can easily overheat and become exhausted in hot weather.

Original article: Saltford Parish Council will be holding its Parish Walk on the evening of Wednesday 14 June 2023. Saltford residents are warmly welcome to join the walk as are well-behaved dogs. This is a great chance to chat with members of SPC and other residents whilst enjoying the beautiful countryside on our doorstep.

The walk will be lead by an experienced guide and a member of B&NES Council’s Public Rights of Way team (Robin and Cheryl). For a copy of the route please see the paths highlighted in green on this map.

There will be a shorter walk to the Cheese Shop (Kelston) and a longer walk to Kelston Roundhill. Please come prepared for all weathers and with decent footwear for walking up the hill, along with refreshments to keep you going (including water) and a torch. As a countryside walk, please be aware that the ground will be uneven and possibly slippery. The aim is to get down from the tump by the time the light goes however please come prepared. Both the short and long guided walks will end at The Shallows.

If bringing a dog, please ensure it is kept under control and on lead if walking near livestock. More information on the Countryside Code can be found at https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/the-countryside-code/the-countryside-code-advice-for-countryside-visitors

There’s no cost and no need to book, please just turn up at The Shallows car park for a 6:30pm start.

We look forward to seeing as many residents who can make it. Fingers crossed for good weather and decent views from the top!

If you are unable to attend remember residents are always welcome at SPC’s monthly meetings and other planned events, as shared on our website and other communication channels.
