Parliamentary candidates announced for North East Somerset and Hanham - Saltford Parish Council

Following the Parliamentary Boundary Review, Saltford is in the parliamentary constituency for North East Somerset and Hanham.

B&NES Council has shared the following information:

On Thursday 4 July, voters in North East Somerset and Hanham will vote to elect their new MPs.

The list of candidates standing in the General Election for the parliamentary constituency of North East Somerset and Hanham has been published.

The candidates standing in North East Somerset and Hanham are as follows:

BRUNCH, Barmy                         (The Official Monster Raving Loony Party)

Who can vote

B&NES Council has shared that order to vote you must be a British, Irish or Commonwealth citizen (including Maltese and Cypriot), and your name must be on the electoral register. EU citizens are not entitled to vote at UK parliamentary general elections.

If you are not on the electoral register at your current address, you must register to vote by midnight on Tuesday 18 June. It takes just five minutes to apply online at gov.uk/register-to-vote. How to vote – in person, by post or by proxy

Voters have a range of options for casting their vote – in person, by post or by appointing someone they trust to vote on their behalf, known as a proxy vote. The deadline to apply for a postal vote is 5pm on Wednesday 19 June – you can apply online at gov.uk/apply-postal-vote. The deadline to apply for a proxy vote is 5pm on Wednesday 26 June 2024 – you can apply online at gov.uk/apply-proxy-vote.

If voting in person at the polling station, you will be required to show an accepted form of photo ID to the polling station staff. The full list of accepted forms of ID can be found at https://www.electoralcommission.org.uk/voting-and-elections/voter-id/accepted-forms-photo-id. Please note that the B&NES Discovery Card is not an accepted form of ID at polling stations.

If voting in person bring valid ID

Voters who do not have an accepted form of photo ID, can apply online for a free Voter Authority Certificate at https://www.gov.uk/apply-for-photo-id-voter-authority-certificate. Alternatively, an application form can be requested by calling B&NES Council on 01225 477333 or emailing elections@bathnes.gov.uk. Completed applications must reach B&NES Council by 5pm on Wednesday 26 June.
