Saltford’s Annual Parish Meeting took place on Friday 3 March at Saltford Hall. Many local groups and volunteers were invited to attend the ‘Big Thank You’ event which took place immediately after as jointly hosted by Saltford Community Association (SCA) and Saltford Parish Council (SPC).
Almost 100 residents came to hear Cllr Chris Warren’s speech about key achievements of the Parish Council during its current four year term, and to take the opportunity to raise matters and ask questions as part of Saltford’s Annual Parish Meeting.
Following this, Cllr Warren thanked representatives of local organisations for their contribution to the village over the past year, many of whom had received grants from Saltford Parish Council for local projects and initiatives. Organisations present at the event who were publicly thanked included the SCA, Saltford Santa Dash, Saltford Sports Club and Saltford Lawn Tennis Club.
The occasion was also the Parish Council’s opportunity to express its appreciation to Cllr Chris Warren for his many years as Chair of Saltford Parish Council. Cllr Chris Warren announced at the Council’s February meeting that he will be stepping down as both Chair and a Parish Councillor in May when the next Parish Council is formed (nominations for elections open later this month).
Prof. John Davies, SCA Chair, then took to the stage to thank those present who had been invited by the SCA, including the many present who are volunteers at Saltford Community Library, as well as residents who deliver SCAN (Saltford Community Association Newsletter). Their efforts, along with the work of the many volunteers at SCA, were acknowledged. Without the time given so generously by so many volunteers, the many community events and activities in the village would not be possible. He also thanked the many Saltford residents who were helping our Ukrainian visitors during their time with us.
Following speeches everyone present had the opportunity to socialise along with enjoying a curry, drinks and ice cream. As in previous years, the event was a fantastic opportunity for SCA and SPC to meet and thank the many residents whose contributions make Saltford such a special place to visit and live.
