SPC Chair meets Jacob Rees-Mogg to discuss transport matters - Saltford Parish Council

On 11th March SPC Chair Cllr Chris Warren met with Jacob Rees-Mogg MP at Saltford Hall.

Cllr Warren requested Mr Rees-Mogg’s active support for SPC’s request that WECA fund the full costs of a feasibility study to re-open Saltford Station. Mr Rees-Mogg affirmed his positive support for a re-opened Saltford Station, adding that he was ‘more than willing to push for this as far as possible’. Further to contacting WECA to share his views, Mr Rees-Mogg said that he would write to Grant Shapps, Secretary of State for Transport, regarding the re-opening of Saltford Station.

Cllr Warren also raised the issue of First Bus fares for Saltford residents. Mr Rees-Mogg said that he viewed Saltford being in the West of England Zone as ‘unfair’, stating that he would raise this with First West of England directors in person at their upcoming meeting.
