SPC grants £3k to SCA for Saltford Hall improvements - Saltford Parish Council

Saltford Parish Council resolved at its February meeting to grant £3,000 to the Saltford Community Association towards the costs of refurbishing the main hall at Saltford Hall. In discussing the grant request, SPC recognised the value of the project to the community and wider members of the public.

In reaching its decision, Saltford Parish Council acknowledged the important purpose the main hall has for a broad cross-section of residents and the wider public. The main hall is not only used for multiple purposes (i.e. social events, sports, exercise and drama) but is also a key location for the provision of crucial services in Saltford when required; such as a polling station, location for vaccination programmes, and a safe space in the event of a major local incident or emergency.

The essential role of the main hall to the Saltford community means that it is important that it is well maintained and can meet the demands placed on it for its range of uses. Saltford Parish Council views the proposed works to ceiling of the hall as of major benefit with regards to the practical future use of the space and appreciates the need to redecorate the hall due to its current condition.

The Saltford Community Association has employed a Saltford-based company to carry out the works, and hope that the refurbishment will be completed by the end of April. Saltford Parish Council has been informed that Main Hall bookings are coming through following the government releasing its roadmap to lifting lockdown restrictions.

Saltford Parish Council looks forward to hopefully holding its own meetings back at Saltford Hall (in the Avon Room) from the summer.
