Saltford Parish Council (SPC) is seeking an enthusiastic, organised and community-focused individual for the role of Assistant Clerk on a permanent part-time basis.

About the Role
Working 10 or 12 hours per week, the Assistant Clerk will support SPC’s Parish Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer (RFO) in the delivery of a wide range of Council responsibilities and services.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for several important areas of Council work, including:
- ● Planning matters
- ● Allotments
- ● Churchyard maintenance
- ● Council assets
- ● Community events
The role also involves providing administrative and operational support across the Council’s activities, helping to ensure services are delivered efficiently and effectively for residents.

Hours
10–12 hours per week (to be discussed at interview). Applicants should state their preferred weekly hours within this range.
Hours are worked flexibly over two or three weekdays between 8.00am and 6.00pm.
The successful applicant must be available to work on the first Wednesday morning of each month. Availability to work on the last Thursday morning of each month would be advantageous.
Occasional attendance at evening meetings will be required. These will be agreed in advance with the Clerk, and time off in lieu (TOIL) will be provided.
Location
The role is primarily home-based, with attendance required at the Saltford Parish Council Office and at locations within the village, including the churchyard, allotments and other Council assets and venues as required.
Attendance at external meetings in the Bath and North East Somerset area may also be required on occasion.
The Council will provide appropriate equipment to enable the postholder to undertake their duties effectively. The successful applicant must have access to a suitable home-working environment and a reliable telephone and internet connection.

Salary
The salary for this position is:
NJC SCP 15 (£30,024 per annum pro rata, £15.56 per hour) to SCP 17 (£31,022 per annum pro rata, £16.08 per hour)
(2026/27 National pay award pending.)
