Saltford residents will receive a B&NES Council new Waste Services leaflet from 6th December 2021 via the Royal Mail. This leaflet will contain the details of the changes to collections and Recycling Centre closures over Christmas and some tips to help residents sort their recycling containers.
Further to the leaflet, to find out when your Christmas collections will be, new collection calendars are now available online for residents to view and download from www.bathnes.gov.uk/collectionday . These provide the full set of collection dates for each property.
Simply put in your postcode, then when the page comes up with upcoming dates click on the link below these that says ‘Download your recycling and rubbish collection calendar’. This will generate a calendar for your address.
Charity Christmas Tree Campaign
B&NES Council are working with Dorothy House again this year and their charity Christmas Tree campaign. Residents who live in Saltford BS31 (as well as residents who live in BA1, Ba2, BA3) will be able to have their tree collected on 7th or 8th January for a donation.
For more information and to register a collection please visit www.charityxmastreecollection.com. The website is open for registrations from 15th November 2021.
NEW – Garden waste sack and Christmas Tree collection booking
Following the winter shutdown, B&NES Council’s Garden Waste collections will restart on 17th January 2022. Once collections start, B&NES Council will be introducing a booking system for residents who purchase Garden Waste Sacks and require a Christmas Tree collection.
B&NES Council have included details of this change in the Christmas leaflet and will be promoting via its social media channels, website and local stockists.
Residents will be required to book a collection for any garden waste sacks or Christmas tree online at www.bathnes.gov.uk/gardenwaste. Residents with wheeled bins on an annual subscription are unaffected by this change.
Residents without access to the internet will be able to book their sack collection by contacting Council Connect on 01225 39 40 41. Christmas Trees will be collected free of charge via the booking service between 17th January – 11th February 2022.
B&NES Council is introducing the online booking for sacks and trees because the collections are being digitized. The collection rounds are all moving onto the crews In-Cab system. This means B&NES Council will no longer be driving down every street to look for sacks and trees, and will know where its customers are. This enables B&NES Council to plan its rounds and resources effectively saving time and money. It also means the crews are less likely to miss homes that periodically put out garden waste sacks for collections.
In reducing the miles B&NES Council crews are traveling, they are also helping B&NES Council’s efforts to tackle the climate emergency.
