As well as pets and horses, Saltford is a village in a rural setting with livestock kept on Saltford’s Green Belt. Fireworks can make pets and livestock struggle, which can be dangerous or lead to injury.
Saltford Parish Council has previously resolved to try to help reduce the impact of fireworks, by supporting RSPCA campaigns to raise awareness about the impact of fireworks on animals and wildlife.
The RSPCA has a ‘Pets and Fireworks‘ page, with useful guidance for pet owners at this time of year. The British Horse Society has information on its Fireworks page too.

Firework events in/near Saltford 2024
Though enjoyed by many, SPC is conscious of the impact that firework displays may have on some vulnerable residents and on pets and livestock.
SPC recommends that local groups and organisations advertise their public firework displays within the area in advance, so that people can take precautions for themselves and their animals.
As such, SPC will look to share information about public displays for resident awareness. Please find a list of displays that may be heard in Saltford below.

Saltford Parish Council’s support for quieter fireworks in 2022
In addition to raising awareness of local firework events, in 2022, SPC wrote to the Local Government Association to lobby for a limit to the maximum noise level of fireworks to 90dB for those sold to the public for private displays and also requested the Government to better regulate fireworks by limited in the noise level for those used in public displays to 90dB.
