Saltford Remembrance Sunday 2025
This year’s Remembrance Sunday commemorations will take place on the morning of Sunday 9 November 2025.
Saltford Parish Council (SPC) would like to once again extend its sincere thanks to the 1st Saltford Scouts for leading the organisation of this year’s Remembrance Sunday commemorations, and to all their volunteer marshals for their contributions on the day.
Their planning and dedication ensure the village can pay its respects in a meaningful way.
Sincere thanks are also extended to St Mary’s Church, Saltford4Nature, former SPC Councillors Chris W and Rob T, and everyone else involved (see below) for their valued contributions.
Parade and Service at St Mary’s Church
Each year, members of the 1st Saltford Scouts and Saltford District Guides & Brownies parade from the green in front of Saltford Hall (Broadway) to St Mary’s Church.
After the church service, the parade will be joined by local dignitaries. The parade will continue from the Church along the High Street to the War Memorial, where many residents will have already gathered.
A short service followed by the national silence at 11am will then take place.
SPC Chair Jon Godfrey will lay a wreath on behalf of the Saltford community, as we come together to honour and remember.
The parade then returns to Saltford Hall to disperse.
Members of the public are welcome to walk alongside the parade. However, due to limited capacity, the church service itself is reserved for those in the parade.
St Mary’s Church plans to live stream the service into the Church Hall (at Queen Square), allowing residents to watch indoors. More information about St Mary’s Church is available on their website.

Thanks to all those who have contributed to the village’s Remembrance commemorations
SPC is grateful to St Mary’s Church, Saltford Guides, all uniformed youth groups, residents, volunteers and marshals who contribute to the village’s Remembrance Sunday arrangements. Your efforts each year enable our community to come together to honour those who served.
Thank you also to the Rev’d Nigel and all those at St Mary’s Church, Saltford. The Remembrance Day service will be livestreamed to the Church Hall (Queen Square) for those who wish to attend. Those in the parade will attend the service in the church itself.
We also appreciate the work of Bath & North East Somerset Council’s Parks team, who ensure that flower beds by Saltford’s War Memorial and at Saltford Memorial Garden are well maintained for this significant occasion.
Local volunteer group Saltford4Nature have once again supported B&NES Council in caring for the beds by the Saltford Memorial Garden (by the Manor Road / A4 Bath Road junction). They organised tidy-up and replanting sessions during October, please see image below as taken at Saltford Memorial Garden.
Saltford4Nature are keen to add more volunteers to their group, so that they can expand their work around the village. To find out more about Saltford4Nature and their valuable work in the village, please email: Saltford4Nature@gmail.com

Ahead of Remembrance Sunday 2025, former SPC Councillors Chris W and Rob T kindly volunteered their time and skills to repaint the lettering on SPC’s War Memorial Railings. The railings were originally updated by Saltford Parish Council in 2018 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I – a project that both Chris and Rob helped deliver during their time on the Parish Council. A big thank you to them both for helping keep this important local landmark looking its best in time for this year’s Remembrance commemorations. The photo below shows the Saltford War Memorial railings ‘before’ (taken 15 October) and ‘after’ (28 October) following the gold lettering having been repainted.

‘Before’ photo (15 Oct) – the lettering looks a bit streaky as SPC’s railings had just been cleaned!

‘After’ photo – taken 28 October, the day after the railings were painted.
