Residents reminded to register to vote before midnight on 17 April deadline - Saltford Parish Council

Residents wishing to vote are being reminded to check they are on the electoral register in time for the local elections on 4 May.

This is a reminder for those who are not registered at their current address to make sure they are registered before the deadline, at 11.59pm on Monday 17 April.

Everyone who is registered should have received a poll card in the post. If you haven’t received a poll card, you may not be registered to vote, or your details may need updating on the electoral register. See SPC’s news article at https://www.saltfordparishcouncil.gov.uk/saltford-residents-keep-an-eye-out-for-your-poll-cards-this-week/ for when poll cards were delivered.

You can check if you are on the electoral register by calling 01225 477333 or emailing B&NES Council at elections@bathnes.gov.uk. Anyone not registered can call B&NES Council 01225 477333 or apply online. It only takes five minutes to register on the GOV.UK website.

There will be no Saltford Parish Council elections as this year it has been an ‘uncontested election’, please see SPC’s news article at https://www.saltfordparishcouncil.gov.uk/elections-2023-result-of-uncontested-election/. If you live outside Saltford, other town and parish council elections are taking place. Please view information from your own town or parish council about this.

This year Saltford residents will be voting to elect TWO councillors to Bath & North East Somerset Council, who serve and represent the views and interests of their local residents, and make important decisions to ensure that the community gets the right services. Please see SPC’s webpage at https://www.saltfordparishcouncil.gov.uk/election-of-councillors-to-bnes-council-saltford-ward-councillors/ to find out more about who is standing for B&NES Council elections locally.

This May for the first time, residents voting at a polling station will need to show photo ID. A list of accepted forms of photo ID is available on the Council website www.bathnes.gov.uk/voterid or by calling 01225 477333.

Voters without an accepted form of photo ID can apply for a free Voter Authority Certificate online via www.gov.uk/apply-for-photo-id-voter-authority-certificate or by completing a paper form.

They can also apply for the certificate in person at the following B&NES Council offices:

  • The Guildhall in Bath
  • Bath Housing, Welfare and Advice Service on Manvers Street
  • Keynsham Information and Advice Service
  • Midsomer Norton Information and Advice Service

The deadline to apply for a certificate for the May elections is 5pm, Tuesday 25 April. More information about photo ID can be found on the B&NES Council website.
