SPC supports B&NES Council's proposals to reduce speed limit from 50mph to 40mph - Saltford Parish Council

UPDATE: AUGUST 2022

SPC has been informed that B&NES Council has reduced the speed limit from 50mph to 40mph following its public consultation in 2021. B&NES Council’s contractor has now programmed in the signing and lining works on Monday 22nd and Tuesday 23rd August 2022. Following the works being completed, the new 40mph speed limit will be operational on Friday 26th August.

At its December 2021 meeting, Saltford Parish Council resolved to respond to B&NES Council Traffic Regulation Order public consultation 21-023a.

Following discussion of the proposals (available here on the B&NES Council website) and specifically their safety benefits, Saltford Parish Council resolved its response, stating:

Saltford Parish Council strongly supports the proposals by B&NES Council to reduce the speed limit from 50mph to 40mph on the stretches of road identified in the TRO consultation. Saltford Parish Council welcomes these proposed changes, viewing them as a safety measure aiding the reduction of speeding as vehicles enter 30mph sections of road, and specifically the 30mph section of A4 in Saltford.

Saltford Parish Council submitted its response to B&NES Council on 8 December, prior to the consultation end date of 22 December 2021.
