Speeding is one of the most common causes of fatal or serious road collisions.
The document linked below has been circulated by the Police, to answer questions residents may have about how and why Avon and Somerset Police carry out speed enforcement. Please see A&S Police’s attachment:

Concerned about speeding in Saltford?
If you are affected by speeding in your area, fill in the raise a community speed concern form.
If residents in Saltford are concerned about speeding in their area of the village, you can join A&S Police’s Community Speed Watch scheme to help monitor and raise awareness of speeding where you live.
Avon and Somerset Police state that a Community SpeedWatch can be set up in any village, small town, or urban area, governed by either a 20, 30 or 40 miles per hour speed limit. Community SpeedWatch is a team of local residents who are willing to volunteer a small amount of time each week, and who are trained and issued with speed detection equipment to monitor speeds.

Police engagement at the Keynsham Area Forum
To find out directly from the Keynsham Beat Team about policing matters in Saltford, and for the opportunity to ask questions about local matters, residents can attend the Keynsham Area Forum as organised by B&NES Council.
The Keynsham Area Forum brings together residents, B&NES Ward and Parish Councillors / Clerks, community organisations and public services to discuss topics of interest and help address areas of concern. A representative from SPC regularly attends (meeting dates are on the B&NES website).
A report from the police is a standing item on the Keynsham Area Forum agenda, often near the start of the meeting. Due to resource, SPC was informed in Spring 2025 that the police were unable to attend Parish Council meetings to give reports, however that Councillors and residents were welcome to engage with the police at the Keynsham Area Forum.
Communications between the police and SPC, when required, continue to take place as-and-when required. More information is available on SPC’s ‘Report It’ page under ‘Police’.
