Saltford Parish Council’s 11 Councillors carry out responsibilities individually and collectively. Parish Councillors are available to listen to the concerns of residents. If you wish to contact a Parish Councillor directly please find details below.
Parish Councillors are elected officials and receive no payment for their service. They offer their time for free, for the benefit of the local community. SPC’s Chair receives a small honorarium in place of expenses (£300 p.a. in 2025/2026).
SPC’s Chair and Vice-Chair are elected at the Annual Parish Council meeting, held each May. Committee members, Working Group members and Link Members are also agreed annually in May.

Link Members
SPC Councillors are selected annually to be ‘Link Members’ for external organisations. Link Members are contact points for specific local organisations, and Councillors may attend their meetings.
Link Member Councillors are able to share information with the Council at SPC’s monthly meetings (‘Report from Link Members’ is a standing item on agendas).
Councillors or the Parish Clerk are ‘Link Members’ for:
- Parish Liaison meetings
- Keynsham Area Forum
- ALCA (Avon Local Councils Association) B&NES Area Group
- Saltford Community Association
- Saltford Sports Club
- River Avon Users Consultative Committee (RAUCC)
- Saltford Environment Group
- Saltford Business Network
- Saltford Fair Trade Group
- Parish Councils Airport Association (PCAA)
Councillors and the Parish Clerk also attend one-off meetings, events and relevant training sessions.
Complaints about SPC Councillors
Any complaints that a serving Parish Councillor may have breached Saltford Parish Council’s Code of Conduct should be sent directly to B&NES Council. Please view B&NES Council’s ‘Make a complaint about a Councillor‘ page.
Saltford Parish Council Staff
The Parish Clerk is the Council’s ‘Proper Officer’ and only employee. SPC’s Clerk supports Councillors to carry out the council’s responsibilities and administers the council’s business.
SPC’s Parish Clerk is Certificate in Local Council Administration (CiLCA) qualified, which along with other criteria entitles SPC to hold the General Power of Competence.
The Parish Clerk is also SPC’s Responsible Financial Officer (RFO) and has completed the Financial Introduction to Local Council Administration (FILCA) course.
The Parish Clerk works part-time, and working hours and location vary. Please find details on how to contact the Parish Clerk on the ‘Contact Us‘ page. Responses to correspondence may take longer than usual during periods of staff annual leave, which are not usually covered by temporary staff.
B&NES Council’s Saltford Ward Councillors
Saltford Parish Council is independent of B&NES Council. Saltford Parish Council aims to work positively with B&NES Council’s Councillors, for the benefit of Saltford’s residents.
Contact details for the two B&NES Saltford Ward Councillors can be found on the Report It page and on B&NES Council’s webpage ‘Your Councillors by Ward‘.
SPC welcomes Saltford’s two B&NES Ward Councillors to its Full Council meetings, and allocates a standing item on each agenda for B&NES Ward Councillors to address the Parish Council (if present).
Copies of B&NES Ward Councillor’s monthly reports if available need to be requested directly from Saltford’s B&NES Ward Cllrs. A short summary of information shared at SPC’s meetings by Ward Councillors (or shared in advance if unable to attend the meeting) may be recorded in SPC’s minutes.
