Planned roadworks: Notice of resurfacing works at Wellsway, Keynsham - Saltford Parish Council

B&NES Council’s contractors will be resurfacing the highway at Wellsway, Keynsham. Please find a copy of the letter to residents here. The letter includes a map of the area being resurfaced.

Resurfacing works will take place from Monday 12 September 2022 and are expected to take up to 3 days to complete, depending on the weather.

At the same time the road markings to the recently completed surface dressing treatment will be reinstalled. This will likely be on the last day of resurfacing and mean that the road will be closed to the two headed man junction until complete on this day.

Work will be carried out under road closures between 7am and 7pm. Any cars parked within the closure may be removed so as not to delay this work. The road will be re-opened to traffic at the end of each day’s work.

Residents will need to make their own arrangements to find alternative parking. Unfortunately, this also applies to disabled parking spaces within the area of work, we apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Diversion routes will be in place for local traffic and advance notices positioned along the route to warn drivers of the road closure (see map on the letter linked above for the extents of the resurfacing)

B&NES Council state that they always try to complete works as quickly as possible, but please be aware the timeframe given is a guide and that poor weather or good progress on site may mean the timings can change.

Restricted vehicle access for residents’ private frontages within the road closures will be maintained whenever possible and when it is safe and as site operations allow. Access will be controlled by Traffic Marshalls, who’ll also give advice on likely access windows as the works progress.

Unfortunately, there will be times when access will not be possible, so please be prepared for delays, disruption and make alternative arrangements before this work starts.

B&NES Council suggest residents consider providing advance warning to any deliveries or visitors you may expect during this period and suggest they find alternative routes as there will be no through access of the site while the closure is in place.

Just so you know:

– Emergency services will always be given access when responding to an emergency.

– Bus operators have been informed and will be re-routing services if needed.

– B&NES Council are working with our Waste Service Team to try and ensure collections are not disrupted, although regrettably there will be occasions when this is not possible.

Bath and North East Somerset Council are working in partnership with their Contractor Volker Highways, to maintain our highway network. They follow strict protective measures to keep themselves and others safe during the works. Please respect social distancing guidelines and allow them to carry out their roles.

B&NES Council update, received 5th September 2022

Bath & North East Somerset Council are advising people to plan their journeys ahead of time if travelling through Keynsham later this month, as resurfacing works it’s carrying out are followed by utility works by Hawkfield Homes.

The council are undertaking essential road resurfacing works to Wellsway that will take place under road closures between 7am-7pm, 12-14 September.

The existing 20mph speed limit is being extended beyond the Chewton Road junction with the Wellsway to improve conditions for cyclists travelling between Manor Road and Chewton Road. There’s also an aspiration to divert the Avon Cycleway to follow this route.

Hawkfield Homes will begin their works at Bath Hill the following week.

Traffic will be managed by three-way traffic signals on Bath Hill, Bath Road and Wellsway. The bus stop on Bath Road will be suspended for the duration of the works. B&NES Council sincerely apologise for any inconvenience these works may cause to those travelling in this area and sympathise that these may incur delays in traffic flow, and say they will do their utmost to make sure that the works conclude as soon as possible.

Councillor Manda Rigby, B&NES Council cabinet member for Transport said: ‘We know this can be a busy stretch of road in Keynsham, so unfortunately there may be some delays to traffic, but we’ll work hard to minimise the disruption and apologise for any inconvenience. Diversions will be in place and traffic marshals will be on site throughout the works.’
